The Saint John Arts Centre

The Saint John Arts Centre is a multidisciplinary venue, dedicated to serving the community through arts, educational and cultural programming accessible to all. We strive to be an innovative showcase for all forms of creative expression and multidisciplinary thought.

The Greater Saint John Visual Artists Fund

A group of professional artists and arts supporters in the Saint John region joined forces some years ago to organize a number of highly successful fundraising events: Art in the City Studio Tour (2003) Art and Artifacts (2005) and Whodunit? (2007). The proceeds from these events have gone to establish the Greater Saint John Professional Artists Fund which is managed through the Greater Saint John Community Foundation.

Port Saint John Residency Now Open For Applications

Port Saint John is excited to announce the fourth biennial artist residency for 2026-2027! The residency will include unique access to the Port as a means to inspire a new body of work, culminating in an exhibit at the sponsored Port Saint John Gallery at the Saint John Arts Centre from September 3rd – October 22nd of 2027

***Link in Bio to Register*** Level Two: Continue Wheel Throwing This 6-week class builds on the fundamental skills learned in the Beginner Pottery class. What each student learns will depend on their skill level at the start of the course. Students will focus on refining their skills while creating a variety of pieces, which may include mugs, bowls, vases, plates, and lidded jars. This class is designed for students who are already able to throw a small 4” cylinder on their own.
2026 Fall Pottery Workshop Registration is Now Open! To register visit: https://sjartscentre.ca/category/workshops/ceramics/ Level One: Beginner Pottery This 6-week class covers the fundamentals of throwing on the wheel, starting with centring, pulling walls, trimming and glazing. The goal of the class is for students to learn to throw basic forms on their own. No previous pottery experience is required and students may want to repeat this course in order to improve their basic throwing skills. (**Students are asked to take at least two Level One courses before registering for a Level Two workshop.) Level Two: Continue Wheel Throwing This 6-week class builds on the fundamental skills learned in the Beginner Pottery class. What each student learns will depend on their skill level at the start of the course. Students will focus on refining their skills while creating a variety of pieces, which may include mugs, bowls, vases, plates, and lidded jars. This class is designed for students who are already able to throw a small 4” cylinder on their own. (**Students are asked to take at least two Level One courses before registering for a Level Two workshop.) Level Three: Intermediate Wheel Throwing This 6-week class is geared toward students with previous experience working with clay. Students who have only completed the Beginner Pottery course are encouraged to take the Continued Wheel Throwing class before registering for this course. This class is intended for students who can work independently and are comfortable throwing at least 3 pounds of clay. Students will choose the projects and skills they wish to focus on, with guidance from our instructor. (**Students are asked to take at least two Level Two courses before registering for the Level Three workshop.)
